Elemental

I’ve been thinking about one of the stories posted in a comment. Her uncle’s friend was pulled into the river by something on the UNC Occaneechi site in Hillsborough in the 80s. There were other weird things that happened like hearing voices and objects moving around, but the big one was connected to the water. The guy was pulled into the river and held under for like a full minute. He was so freaked out he quit the dig.

That sounds nothing like what I saw, but maybe they could be connected? Remember old stories about the elements: fire, earth, air and water? Aren’t those the elements of nature? Maybe the things I saw were connected to earth and air, but what happened to him was the water element?

Is it possible for nature to be haunted? Or for nature to turn bad?

I don’t know about haunted, but I do think nature more alive than we like to think. Back when I was in school, I was being followed home by this young man, and I didn’t even notice until a bunch of birds suddenly took off, cawing up a storm. I looked behind me to see what had happened and that’s when I saw him. if it weren’t for the birds, lord knows what would have happened. you stay safe out there sugar.

I’m so glad you got away. I wonder if the birds were trying to save you or if the man had such a disturbing presence, the birds wanted to get out of there.
